Product Features
A great option for the outdoors when it gets hot, this short sleeve shirt makes for a great easy-going summer style staple. A regular fit, it is made from patterned lightweight Madras Cotton and features camp collar and front chest pocket with personalised Sebago Campsides label. Harpswell is a seacoast town in Maine (USA) with over 200 islands just offshore, a jewel location for open air sports and activities all year round immersed in breathtaking natural beauty.
The name Madras derives from Madraspatnam, the site chosen by the British East India Company for a permanent settlement in 1639. To secure a reliable labor supply, they had promised a 30-year exemption from duties for Indian weavers in the area, and within a year nearly 400 families of weavers had settled in Madras. Popular in Europe for its lightness and breathability from the start, undyed Madras evolved into the classic beautiful plaid patterns in the 17th Century, became the traditional dress of Madras residents and conquered the world. To this day, Madras fabric remains to be dyed just as it was on day one: by hand while still in yarn form.
